My name is Shelley Stroud and I have been teaching at New Generation School since 2016. I currently teach a primary cluster class, which is mainly comprised of first graders. At another school, I taught one year as a Middle School Special Education teacher for learning disabled and emotionally challenged children. I love watching the children that I work with learn and expand their thought processes. I feel blessed to be able to work with the children.
Prior to teaching at New Generation, I worked in social services helping children and adults for the past 20 years. Through my vast career in social services, I have been trained in the Nurturing Parenting techniques, worked as a mental health and substance counseling and behavior analyst work with children.
I graduated from Gordon Central High school in 1991. I went on to get my Associate’s Degree in education, my Bachelor’s Degree from Saint Leo University in Psychology, and my Master’s Degree from Capella University in Human Services, Counseling, and Social Services. Currently, I am working on a Ph.D. in Forensic Psychology through Capella University.
On a personal note, I am happily married and have been so since 1996. I have two wonderful boys that are grown adults now and are attending college. They graduated from New Generation and I feel blessed to work at the school that they went to. I also live on a fully functioning farm with pigs, cows, ducks, goats, chickens, and sometimes emus and donkeys.
